PUT ON FOLK COSTUME IN HONOR OF LATVIA!

Celebrating the Day of Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia on 4th of May, the Folk Costume Center SENĀ KLĒTS exhibits photographs in “Galerija Centrs” taken in 2016, when the first organized march in folk costumes from the Town Hall Square to the Castle of Light (Library) took place. The people in the exhibited thirty photographs are individual folk costume enthusiasts who care about tradition survival. The pictures show the festive mood and excitement of the day, which is intensified by the presence of folk costumes. Folk costume is included in the Latvian cultural canon as a visual expression of Latvian cultural identity and one of our national symbols. Photos by Jānis Deinats.
