Fashion designer showroom and pop-up in “Galerija Centrs” exhibition gallery

June 10, 2022

Galerija Centrs in cooperation with the designers’ association Butterman opens LMA (Art academy of Latvia) fashion student showroom, which will offer the conceptually strongest and most suitable clothing collections, including both bachelor’s and master’s student fashion collections. In this way we help students to design and represent their collections, to stylists, other representatives of the fashion industry, and those interested in new talents. The aim of the showroom is to create an independent representation platform, to discover new tools and aspects of representation, and to develop opportunities for collaboration and artistic creativity. The Fashion Design sub-branch of the Latvian Academy of Arts prepares contemporary-minded and professionally competitive fashion artists who are capable to work in various segments of the fashion industry that have no geographical boundaries. At the annual LMA fashion show, students present conceptual ideas about the experience and issues of human identity, dressed in high-quality design samples that are applicable both to production and wearing, and as independent art objects and performances. Such a presentation provides an opportunity to promote their work and show that fashion is very wearable, when finding the right lovers of the works. The showroom of the new collections is available during the entire pop-up event – every day throughout the event one of the students presents the collection and everyone can meet the students in person.

The pop-up store will feature young designers who are already working professionally in the industry. These will be wearable clothes and accessories in small quantities, often unique works in one copy. The pop-up shop will be available from 13/06 to 22/06 on the 3rd floor of the exhibition Gallery in the central part, where you will be able to meet the fashion artists themselves and buy the wearable works of art they present. This week is important because it helps to introduce Latvian fashion designers, supports them, gives visitors the opportunity to buy things they like. During pop-up event there is a specially designed photo corner available.
