The first half of this year at Galerija Centrs has been marked by growth, creative initiatives, and significant innovations

“We are consistently moving forward according to a well-defined strategy — reaching set goals step by step, adjusting course when necessary, but always with confidence — shaping Galerija Centrs into the leading shopping destination in the heart of Riga. We are proud of what we’ve achieved, but we’re not ready to stop. This is only the beginning,” says Lāsma Vilande, Centre Manager at Galerija Centrs, reflecting on the shopping centre’s achievements in the first half of the year.
The first half of this year at Galerija Centrs has been marked by growth, creative initiatives, and significant innovations. Visitor traffic increased by 8% overall, with the most notable surges in January (+16%), April (+10%), and June (+7%). Over six months, new or fully renovated stores opened across 2,855 m², which makes up 14% of the center’s total leasable area. A further 23% of the space is set to undergo changes in the next six months — including the opening of two new entertainment parks, as well as new fashion, accessories, and home goods stores, and the arrival of a beloved pastry brand on Rīdzenes Street.
Galerija Centrs is also evolving into a platform for culture and the creative industries. In April, in collaboration with the Zuzeum Art Centre, the installation “Loriņš un Galantērija” by artist Lauma Muižarāja was unveiled, offering a unique public art experience for several months on Rīdzenes Street. Another highlight was the Latvian Art Academy’s “I Am Fashion” exhibition, which drew attention from industry professionals and media alike, reinforcing Galerija Centrs as a destination to discover the newest talent in Latvian fashion.
One of the spring’s most vibrant events was the educational and gastronomic gathering “The Art of a Light Life,” held on March 15 in the BURZMA space. Visitors had the opportunity to explore how to manage finances wisely, prioritize themselves, and navigate a world full of choices — all free of charge.
The BURZMA food and events space also demonstrated solid growth this half-year, supported by successful tenant performance and positive visitor feedback. Guests particularly appreciated the diverse, high-quality culinary experiences. Efforts continue to expand the offering and develop BURZMA as a go-to gastronomic destination in central Riga.
