Ridzenes Street – a place where Latvian art, design and traditions meet

February 7, 2017

This year “Ridzenes Street market” will be held every month, during Thursday and Friday of every second week, while in between the markets visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy art exhibitions.

“Ridzenes Street is a democratic and an always open cultural space, it is a place where highest level art meets the widest public. This year we are once again participating in Baltic Ballet festival, international contemporary art festival “Survival Kit” and “Riga City Festival” programmes. We are happy with our successful cooperation with “Galerija Centrs” neighbours from the Old Town part of Riga – Cinema museum and Latvian Museum of Decorative art and design,” said Z. Silina.

In February, when love is celebrated in all of its forms, the visitors of the trade centre will have an opportunity to visit a photo exhibition by multimedia designer Ilze Denisova – a private photo collection, which provides a view of Ilze’s daily vision of nature and cityscape. This spring an exhibition about Riga “My own Moscow Street suburb” will be held on Ridzenes Street. The Graphics workshop and art studio will present the best original works made in the last twenty years.

In April, the Latvian Museum of decorative art and design will give an opportunity to wider public to meet one of the most unique personalities, avant-gardists and promoters of tradition in Latvian art of the first half of 20th century – Romans Suta.  In may we will celebrate the anniversary of one of the greatest Latvian directors Rolands Kalnins and his film “Ceplis”. Museum of cinema will celebrate this event on Ridzenes Street with an exhibition “Two gentlemen – Kalnins and Ceplis”. In the last days of summer an exhibition of International contemporary art festival “Survival Kit” will be available on Ridzenes Street.
